We don't know a great deal about the cottage, it's been said it's one of the oldest buildings on the island, possibly built for home and livestock. About a hundred years ago the may have been up to 3 families living there, for the last 40 years one family and island artist David Aitcheson. You can see David's work in the art gallery in Whiting Bay village as well as on display around the island. On a clear day the view has Holy Island in the foreground and the mainland behind that, on a not so clear day you can barely see the end of the garden. It is only a ten minute walk to the village and beach. Whiting Bay is a quiet little village with a post office, petrol station, restaurant, pub and grocery store.

The main bedroom is the largest of the 4 rooms and has a beautiful en suite bathroom with a luxurious roll top bath.

The main living area of the croft used to be the livestock shed. The walls are original but the floor is now covered in slate and heated. There is a log burner in the corner to add to the warmth and ambiance. At the top end of the room is the kitchen overlooking the dining table. This main living area is a spacious room with a sofa, armchair and cushions and there are a few games in the sideboard including cards, chips and the rules to Texas Hold'em.
